Benefits

Based in Sydney, the NSW Chapter is active and vibrant with over 200 members drawn from a broad spectrum of organisations in the corporate, consulting, government and not-for-profit sectors.

A strong volunteer board of communications professionals governs the Chapter.

Our overriding commitment is to contribute to the success of members’ organisations through effective communication practice and we work hard to ensure we’re always adding value to the membership experience.

In 2009 the NSW Chapter was recognised as a chapter that outperformed the IABC’s global trends in membership growth, membership retention rates and the size of our chapter.

What are the benefits of membership?

Through benefits administered both at the local chapter level and through the IABC’s global network, membership of the NSW Chapter offers the following benefits:

Chapter events

The NSW Chapter runs at least two events per month. Professional communication events focus on showcasing best practice, professional skills development and keeping members up to date with trends in the communication field. Networking events offer members an informal opportunity to meet and share ideas with their peers. Attendance at our events is recognised through our professional development program.

Accreditation

The IABC’s accredited program is the global standard of professional achievement for business communicators. Members have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of strategic communication planning, implementation, measurement and ethics through the peer-reviewed Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) program.

Awards

The IABC offers several awards, including the annual Gold Quill Awards recognising excellence in professional communications.

Conferences

The IABC hosts annual international and regional conferences, at which members can network and learn from leaders in their fields.

Recognition

The IABC NSW professional development program recognises members who keep up-to-date with issues that face professional communicators through active participation in ongoing learning and development.

Online resources

Through the IABC Knowledge Centre, members have access to a comprehensive information service on key communications functions, IABC Research Foundation materials, case studies from winning Gold Quill entries and MemberSpeak, an online tool allowing members to trade ideas and advice unconstrained by geography and time differences.

Communication World

The award-winning bi-monthly IABC print magazine covering issues and trends in the communications profession.

Member discounts

Members can purchase IABC educational products and conference papers at discounted rates.

Corporate Membership

Five or more members from one organisation located anywhere around the world can save at least 5% on their membership. Plus you receive a full library of "How To" IABC Research Foundation Manuals.
