Professional Development Program

Want to stand out from the crowd? Looking for a way to differentiate yourself as a professional communicator?

Then make your IABC membership work for you!

IABC NSW is now offering a professional development recognition program as a benefit to our members.

What is it?

The IABC NSW professional development program provides a record, in the form of a certificate of members who actively keep up-to-date with issues that face professional communicators through active participation in ongoing learning and development.

It’s really easy to participate

If you’re a current IABC NSW member and you attend IABC events with a learning and educational focus you’ll accrue professional development points that count towards recognition.

Once you accrue a minimum of 9 points a year (from1 July-30 June) you’ll receive a certificate recognising your professional development for the 12 month period.

Points are awarded for participation at the following IABC events:

Event Type Points Awarded
Lunch or breakfast presentation 1.5
Workshop or extended presentation (half day) 3
IABC conference (per day) 6
IABC webinars/teleconferences 1

Why participate?

Enjoy an added membership benefit
Engage in professional development
Meet other like-minded professional communicators
Differentiate yourself and show you’re up-to-date with trends and industry best practice

How much does it cost?

There’s no extra cost! Professional development is a service provided to our NSW Chapter members to help you distinguish yourselves from other communicators through recognition of your commitment to continuous learning and development.

What will you learn about?

We’ll present a range of topics each year across core areas relevant to the communication profession. Some examples include:

  • Measurement and ROI
  • Issues and crisis management
  • Change management
  • Advances in communication technology, and associated law and policy implications
  • Sponsorship and Corporate social responsibility.
  • Cross-cultural communication
