Brisbane
As we head into the final part of the year, we have some fantastic events still to come
On 19 and 20 October the IABC Asia-Pacific Fusion conference is taking place in Brisbane. I am attending with many of my fellow IABC NSW Board, IABC members and colleagues from around APAC. It’s a fantastic opportunity to hear from an excellent line up of speakers, catch up with some familiar faces, and meet new communication professionals from across our region. If you haven’t been to an IABC conference before, I really recommend you attend one, and if you’ve missed out this time, there’ll be plenty of chances to catch up on missed content after the event.
For those who came to our recent event with Shane Hatton, how good was it! So many takeaways on the role that communication teams play in building culture. My favourite quote of the night? ‘‘In the orchestra of culture, communication professionals are the composers.’
There is more to come at IABC NSW as we head toward to end of the year. We’re excited to bring you a two-part mini masterclass (28 October) featuring two of Australia’s leading experts in personal brand, leadership, and LinkedIn presence, Kate Boorer and Lucy Bingle.
Kate and Lucy will walk us through how you can you build visibility, credibility and connection – in the real world and on LinkedIn – in a way that feels authentic to who you are. You’ll even come out with a new professional photo!
And finally, building competency and confidence with using AI tools for communication professionals is growing increasingly important. To help us understand more about where we are currently on our AI journey, test your knowledge with these two fantastic tools.
The first comes from IABC NSW past president Megan Thomas. Megan has created the AI Skills Check™. It takes about 10 minutes and Megan is sharing early findings at Fusion next week, so get in quick.
The Skills Check is built especially for people in communication and change. You rate yourself across six skill areas. One you complete skills check, you’ll get:
your scores across six skill areas, from ethics to creativity and leading AI adoption.
where you sit compared with everyone who’s taken the check so far.
a personalised report with what to try next and prompts you can paste straight into your work.
Take the AI Skills Check™ here.
The second is from The USC Annenberg Center for Public Relations.
USC recently launched an AI in PR IQ Quiz, a 20-question self-assessment designed for PR and communications professionals and students to test their knowledge of how AI is reshaping the global industry. Take the quiz here.
Have a great October. See you soon.
Cheers,
Patrick Armstrong, IABC NSW President
